Intermediate-level padel rackets: A leap in quality.

Palas de pádel nivel intermedio: Un salto de calidad.

I've been playing for a while now, I take padel lessons at a club in my city, I've improved my playing technique and yes, I definitely like padel. Is this your situation? Are you ready to leave your beginner-level racket behind and make the jump to an intermediate or high level padel racket.

Starting from this point, we need to know exactly the main features of a mid-level racket. In any case, let's refresh them.

Key features of intermediate or upper-intermediate level padel rackets:

Once we have reached this point, for one reason or another, we are willing to swap our racket for a higher quality one. What makes a racket mid-level or high-level? We tell you.

As we have already mentioned in other blog articles, a padel racket is divided into different parts, which we can classify as:

  • Core
  • Frame
  • Face
  • Rubber

PARTES DE UNA PALA DE PADEL

At Stock Padel, we consider it essential that an intermediate or upper-intermediate racket has the following materials:

  • Starting with the core: This is the first part in which our new weapon must be made of carbon fiber. We must bear in mind that the main characteristic of carbon is lightness and stiffness, unlike fiberglass, which is more flexible. So we begin to reduce racket vibrations and give the structure greater consistency.
  • Moving on to the frame: It can be made from various materials, and even combine them. So the next step up from a 100% fiberglass frame would be a 50% fiberglass, 50% carbon fiber frame.

The frame is one of the most important parts of the racket; we must keep in mind that it is the area that takes the most impacts against the floor or walls. As soon as we add carbon to our frame, it will become stiffer. We recommend choosing a 100% carbon frame, since the price difference is not very high and we will be investing for the future. In high-level or professional padel rackets we can find other types of materials, but we will talk about that in the next article.

  • Face: What is normal in an intermediate racket is a face made of fiberglass, which we can recognize by its greyish color. That is, it will be built with 3 layers of 100% fiberglass.

Lately we can find another material called Alutex, which offers characteristics very similar to fiberglass, although it allows that fiber to be given a color.

  • Rubber: As a general rule, this type of racket is made with low-density EVA rubber. Low density in a rubber provides good ball output, but is penalized in terms of power and control.

How much does a mid-level racket cost? We can find deals.

This improvement in the quality of the racket's components means an increase in the sale price. Except for occasional offers, the price range is between €90 and €150, and you can filter by price in our padel rackets category.

If the racket is made in Spain, the price will be higher than if it is made in Asia. At Stock Padel, we offer a wide variety of rackets of this level.

During 2019, the best-selling mid-range models have been the following: Babolat Revenge Lite y Babolat Defiance Lite. These are two very versatile rackets, one teardrop-shaped and one round. The quality offered by the Babolat brand together with very reasonable prices is the reason for the success of these rackets.
