I've just signed up for padel lessons, I've played tennis and want to try padel, I play the occasional casual game with friends; possibly one of these is your situation if you are looking for a padel racket for beginners.
When a customer walks through the door of our store without knowing which racket to buy, we usually ask several questions:
- How long have you been playing padel?
- How often do you play padel?
- What is your budget?
- Do you know the possible differences between one padel racket and another?
This round of questions clears the way and rules out a large number of possible rackets, making our advice easier.
In the case of an amateur-level padel player, we start by helping them understand why, for example, one type of racket costs €55 and another €180. This factor usually depends on the materials and the place where the padel racket is made.
What is a beginner padel racket like? Factors to consider.
First of all, at Stock Padel we would like to emphasize that an amateur padel player does not need a high-quality product to start out in this sport. In any case, we consider it more important to have a good coach who helps improve our technique and movements on the court.
That said, a racket designed for amateur players will always be made 100% of fiberglass. That is: the frame, the core and the face will all be made of fiberglass, and in general, this type of racket is made in Asian countries because of the low cost.
As for the rubber, as a general rule they are made with low-density rubber, which gives a very comfortable feel and a lot of ball output.
Within the beginner range we can find rackets with different shapes: round, teardrop or diamond. For more technical information you can read this article.
In some cases, brands make rackets with some components, such as the frame, in carbon fiber, thus creating rackets of somewhat higher quality at a not very high price. This could also be another option if the price difference is small.
How much does an amateur padel racket cost? Find out.
Within the amateur range, we can find rackets ranging from €50 up to some around €80. In our padel rackets section, you can filter by price or features and thus discover what type of rackets you can buy.
The cheapest padel rackets are around €50-60, and are usually 100% fiberglass. On the other hand, those priced above €80/90 usually include some carbon part. Normally the first carbon element included is the frame or the core, to give it greater stiffness and resistance to impacts.
Bearing these prices in mind, one of the initial questions comes into play: How often do we play padel?, if the frequency starts to be high, the price difference may be worth it for us in order to get a racket of somewhat higher quality.
